Definition
- President Barack Obama signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA, also known as health care reform and Obamacare) into law on March 23, 2010, directly impacting how health care is delivered to millions of U.S. citizens. This legislation, which began to be implemented in September 2010 and will continue to be phased in until 2020, has the capacity to affect almost every single American by changing the way that health care is delivered, regulating insurance laws and employee benefits, and covering an additional estimated 25 million individuals.
