Definition
- The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) was founded in New York City in 1954 during the annual meeting of the American Association for Health, Physical Education, and Recreation (AAHPER). The following year, the organization was incorporated in Washington, D.C., and in 1961, permanent national offices for the ACSM were established in Philadelphia.
