Definition
- The Back to Africa movement, also known as emigration or repatriation, refers to the desire of people of African descent in the Western Hemisphere to return to their native land. Since the beginning of the transatlantic slave trade, which resulted in the forced migration of an estimated 12 million Africans from the 16th to the 19th centuries, people of African descent have long desired to return to Africa.
