Definition
- The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) was created after World War II under the National Security Act of 1947 to gather foreign intelligence. In this respect, its work complements that of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), which is designed chiefly for the investigation of domestic threats.
