Coalition of Essential Schools
Definition
- The Coalition of Essential Schools (CES) provides national networking and professional development opportunities, conducts research, and advocates for public policies that support its vision of education: an educational system that equips all students with the intellectual, emotional, and social habits and skills to become powerful and informed citizens who contribute actively toward a democratic and equitable society. CES is committed to effecting broader change within the public education system and meeting the needs of young people and communities who traditionally and systemically have been underserved—students of color and students from low-income backgrounds.
