Committee of Fifteen
Definition
- Sponsored by the National Education Association (NEA), the Committee of Fifteen on Elementary Education, a complement to the Committee of Ten, was charged in the late 19th century to reshape elementary education. Although initiated by calls for major reform of the elementary schools, the recommendations of the Committee of Fifteen were a disappointment to most reformers in the 1890s.
