- Cornelius Castoriadis (1922–1997) was a French economist, psychoanalyst, and philosopher. A member of the Trotskyist Internationalist Communist Party at the end of World War II (1939–1945), Castoriadis broke away from the Fourth International due to its defence of the Soviet Union in 1948.
