- A PROMINENT BRITISH statistician and cancer researcher, Sir David Cox was the winner of the Charles F. Kettering Prize of the General Motors Cancer Foundation in 1990 for “the development of the Proportional Hazard Regression Model.” David Roxbee Cox was born on July 15, 1924, in Birmingham, England, the son of S.R.
