Definition
- Djibouti, with an area of 23,000 square kilometers, is in eastern Africa, bordering the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea, Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Somalia. Until 1977, when it became independent and assumed the name Djibouti, it was administered by France as the French Territory of the Afars and the Issas.
