Definition
- Fazlur Rahman was one of the foremost IndoPakistani scholars and educators of the late 20th century in the field of Islamic studies. He was born and raised in the Hazara district of the Punjab (now part of the North-West Frontier Province of Pakistan) and educated under his father's tutelage, which provided him with both a solid grounding in the Deobandi tradition of Islamic learning and an abiding appreciation for Western thought.
