Helsinki declaration
Definition
- Recommendations for the ethical conduct of medical research involving human beings, adopted at the eighteenth World Medical Assembly, Helsinki, in 1964. Specifically the declaration distinguishes between research that aims at the better diagnosis of disease or treatment for disease, and research that is carried out for purely scientific reasons with no necessary diagnostic or therapeutic value for the patient.
