Definition
- The partners communicating in computer-mediated chat, or online chat (one type of computer-mediated communication) are separated geographically but make simultaneous use of the same chat service. Each person engaged in chat types messages in rapid alternation, and the chat program shows the successive contributions on the computer screen.
