Kwakiutls
Definition
- Kwakiutl is the name given to the people of one of the tribes of British Columbia who know themselves as the Kwakwaka'wakw, and have five dialects to their Kwak'wala language that stems from the Wakashan phyla. The Kwakiutl are concentrated on the northern end of Vancouver Island, and have constructed a communal lifestyle, for the most part, living on the fringes of the boreal forests.
