- LEGOs are small, plastic, colorful interlocking blocks manufactured as toys for children. The LEGO company began in 1932, when Ole Kirk Christiansen, a Dutch carpenter, began selling wooden toys to the children of Billund, Denmark. [Source: Encyclopedia of Play in Today's Society; LEGOs]
