Lolita Lebrón

- Dolores Lebrón Sotomayor was born in 1920 in the city of Lares in Puerto Rico. A lifelong advocate of Puerto Rican independence, Lebrón is best known as the passionate leader of the group of Puerto Rican nationalists who in 1954 opened fire on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives in an effort to bring world attention to the impact of U.S. colonial control of her country.
