- THE LYMPHOEDEMA ASSOCIATION of Australia (LAA) was founded in 1982 to encourage research on lymphoedema and its treatment, and to educate patients, medical professionals, and therapists. Lymphoedema (also known as lymphedema) is a medical condition characterized by long-term swelling of parts of the body and is caused by lymphatic-system failure.
