- Maxine Hong Kingston, author of The Woman Warrior, China Men, and Tripmaster Monkey: His Fake Book, is one of the foremost American writers and most prominent Asian American authors. Her first book, The Woman Warrior (1976), is the most widely assigned 20th-century literary text on high school and college campuses and is lauded as a “literary masterpiece.” Moreover, it is required reading for sociology, anthropology, history, and political science courses.
