- Meda Chesney-Lind, professor of women's studies at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, was a pioneer in juvenile justice and feminist criminology in the early 1970s, a time when, as she says, feminist research was considered a “career killer” (Chesney-Lind, 2000, p. 3).
