Montessori method
Definition
- Maria Montessori, the first Italian woman physician, began to study education with mentally retarded children using sensorial materials invented by the French educator Seguin. When the children under her tutelage passed the state examinations given to normal children, Montessori took up the challenge of determining why children in normal schools were not performing even better.
