  • The National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations (NASDAQ) Stock Market was founded in 1971 by the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD). An American stock exchange, it is now owned and operated by the NASDAQ OMX Group, which took control after the NASD members divested themselves of their ownership in a series of sales in 2000 and 2001.
