- Until 2006, Mental Health America (MHA) was named the National Mental Health Association (NMHA). The mission of this leading nonprofit national organization is to promote mental health, prevent mental disorders, and achieve progress to eliminate mental illness through advocacy, education, service delivery, and research initiatives.
