- THE ONCOLOGY NURSING Society (ONS) is a professional organization open to registered nurses and interested professionals in the areas of nursing research, education, patient care, and administration. In 1973 the American Nurses Association and the American Cancer Society cosponsored the first National Cancer Nursing Research Conference.
