Sarabhai Family and the Darpana Academy
Definition
- In 1949, the dancer Mrinalini Sarabhai and her husband, the scientist Vikram Sarabhai, set up the Darpana Academy for Performing Arts in Ahmedabad, in Gujarat state, India. By 2009, this institution, which is currently directed by their daughter Mallika, boasted a theater, a conservatoire, a contemporary performance company, and folk dance and drama groups.
