Definition
- The Slave Route is an ambitious project that was launched by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization) based on a proposal made to the organization by Haiti. The project was adopted in 1993 (Resolution 27C/3.13) and officially started in September of 1994 in Ouidah, Republic of Benin. [Source: Encyclopedia of Black Studies; Slave Route]
