Thai Americans
Definition
- Thai Americans mostly consist of three ethnic groups: Thai, Chinese, and Lao. In Thailand's national discourse, ethnic Thai have been regarded as superior to non-Thai, whereas ethnic Lao have been marginalized as “backward,” and ethnic Chinese as “the other” because of their connections with China and their economic clout.
