- Russian paleontologist Vladimir O. Kovalevskii was noted for his contribution to the development of phylogenic sequences or stages of evolution in species with an adaptive perspective. Brother to biologist Aleksandr, Vladimir is perhaps best known for his depiction of the transitional sequence involving the species Equus.
