Definition
- The Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), created by the Xerox Corporation in 1970 to map out the future of document technology, has played an important role in the history of new media by fostering the development of personal computing and multimedia. PARC has become the paradigmatic “think-tank” for the information age, coupling computer programmers, hardware engineers, and physicists with anthropologists, educators, and designers in an open, creative atmosphere.
