additionality
Definition
- Additionality is a performance standard intended to ensure that any emissions reductions or international financing associated with a particular climate change project, program, or policy are significantly greater than a baseline scenario, often understood as what would have otherwise occurred in the absence of the intervention. Accordingly, assessment of additionality is related to the ability to measure this baseline (or reference) scenario. [Source: Encyclopedia of Global Warming & Climate Change; Additionality]
