alternative media in the World Social Forum
Definition
- Alternative media issues have played an increasingly important role within the World Social Forum (WSF), founded in 2001 to oppose the annual procapitalist World Economic Forum in Switzerland (WEF). WSF sought to enable social movements, networks, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), and other civil society organizations to debate strategies for sustainable development, the environment, democracy, and human rights.
