Preferred term
bribery and graft
Definition
- Bribery and graft are both closely linked with corruption and are punishable as felonies. They have increasingly become the object of national and international anticorruption laws that have expanded their definitions to include interference not only with the judicial process (judiciary, jurors, witnesses, and laypersons) but also with public employees and some classes of private and commercial transactions.
