Definition
- Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a result of numerous risk factors, many of which are behavioral in nature such as smoking, diet, and lack of regular exercise. Others include preexisting medical conditions such as metabolic syndrome (a group of metabolic risk factors including hypertension, abdominal obesity, poor regulation of blood lipids, and insulin resistance).
