career mystique
Definition
- The term career refers to identifiable patterns of movement within and across jobs (and/or organizations) throughout the life course. The career mystique is the belief that a lifetime of working hard, job commitment, and putting in long hours is the only path to occupational and economic success, personal fulfillment, higher status, and a secure retirement—the path to the American dream.
