- The Australian community broadcasting sector is one of the oldest in the world, legally enshrined since the early 1970s under the Broadcasting Services Act of 1992. The sector's structure and operations are particularly interesting to community broadcasting movements elsewhere in the early days of officially establishing their own sectors.
