Definition

  • Congestive heart failure (CHF) occurs when the heart does not effectively pump blood, and congestion of the pulmonary and venous system results. Obesity is related to most of the risk factors for developing CHF. Additionally, obesity itself can increase the risk of heart failure. [Source: Encyclopedia of Obesity; Congestive Heart Failure]
