Definition
- Dependency is a term that implies an unequal relationship between societies and shapes the nature of development, especially in the global era. Dependency is both a technical term in the sociology of development and a more general proposition about the economic, cultural, or political reliance of human societies on other societies with regard to particular commodities, such as oil or the natural environment.
