Definition
- The disease processes of diabetes mellitus cause injury to the nerves of the body. A common complication of long-standing diabetes mellitus is therefore diabetic neuropathy, a dysfunction of several of these nerves. [Source: Encyclopedia of Global Health; Diabetic Nerve Problems]
