- Every year, an estimated 1.8 million women report severe physical assault by an intimate partner. The lifetime prevalence of intimate partner violence for women is 25% to 30%. This violence includes physical and sexual assault as well as psychological victimization, and the estimates likely underestimate the actual occurrence of partner violence.
