- Economics in the context of American religions entails examining not only the material and financial matters related to religious practices, beliefs, governance, building, and missionizing, but also the place of religious institutions within the context of the local, regional, or national economy. Economics in American religion covers as well an individual's place within the economy and how his or her religious practices and beliefs relate to that status.
