Concept information
Preferred term
effective schools
Definition
- Within the context of education and schooling in general, the term effective is often used to determine how successful a school or district has become in its quest to fulfill the requirements of the federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act. Despite the fact that NCLB requirements are aligned with effective schools, it should be noted that there is quite a bit of debate about whether its mandates are actually improving educational outcomes for all students.
