Definition
- An electrocardiogram (EKG or ECG) is a printout of the electrical activity of the heart. Clinical information gained from this printout includes heart rate, rhythm, conduction abnormalities, myocardial ischemia (insufficient blood supply to the heart that may lead to a heart attack), or previous myocardial infarction (heart attack).
