Definition
- Emergency and disaster preparedness is taking the necessary precautions and preparations in the event of an emergency or disaster. Medical emergencies, natural disasters (earthquakes, hurricanes, flooding), technological disasters (hazardous material incidents, nuclear power plant failures), and terrorism pose an ever-present risk to life and property.
