Definition
- A system of ductless glands, integrated within the central nervous system, which regulate the secretion of hormones. The major glands that form the endocrine system are the hypothalamus, pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, pineal, and sex glands (ovaries in females and testes in males).
