Definition
- Environmental treaties are binding international agreements designed to address issues of natural resource management, pollution, and other ecological concerns that are not contained within political boundaries of states. Treaties symbolize states' intent to engage in cooperative action to address an existing problem or take precautionary action to prevent ecological deterioration.
