Definition
- The egalitarian ideal that all students should receive full access to the same high-standard academic curriculum to enable them to achieve social and economic success. Although it is not a guarantee of individual success in a meritocratic society, equal educational opportunity is nonetheless considered a fundamental requirement for democratic schooling.
