failover
Definition
- During times of a realized crisis, business operations may find themselves in a position where they must execute a failover scenario. At that time, a failover can occur from a technical standpoint, meaning systems, certain servers, or complete data centers need to move to a secondary or backup setup, or from a geographical and/or personnel standpoint, meaning operations must be moved to an alternate local or international location, depending on the circumstances of the crisis, availability of critical operations personnel, and its level of severity.
