fee-for-service
Definition
- Fee-for-service is a system under which physicians or other health care providers bill for each service individually as it is provided to a patient. Critics of fee-for-service systems note that they are inherently inflationary, giving providers an incentive to provide more services, because the more services given, the more money the provider can make.
