gay and lesbian portrayals on television
Definition
- Throughout much of its history, television's treatment of gay and lesbian characters mirrored the same mainstream cultural attitudes that preached and legislated against queer sexuality. The last decade of the past millennium and the first decade of the present witnessed radical changes in the way that gays and lesbians are portrayed on American television.
