hallelujah movement
Definition
- Hallelujah is a syncretistic religion that originated in (British) Guyana among the Carib-speaking Macushi Indians shortly before 1900. It combines elements of indigenous South American shamanism and beliefs in nature spirits with biblical teachings of the Anglican missionaries who worked among the Indians during the second half of the 19th century.
