harvesting
Definition
- Exploitation of biological renewable resources as practised, for example, in agriculture, forestry (silviculture) and fish farming (aquaculture, whaling and sealing and game management). A central idea is that of maximum sustainable yield, which, if exceeded, will lead to population decline and possible harvest failure. [Source: Encyclopedia of Environmental Change; harvesting]
