- According to the Ministry of Health, per capita health care expenditures in China reached $51.40 in 2001, compared with $45.40 in 2000, which displayed in turn an increase of 13.5% over 1999. Annual growth in China's total health care expenditures since 1999 has been rising faster than national economic development, at an average of 13% for the former compared to 7.5% for the latter.
